About Me:
I'm very much drawn to the experience of being. I love being surprised and amazed and touched by life.
I love music and art and photography and I am at times an avid reader, most particularly drawn to books on spirituality, quantum physics, poetry, philosophy, theology – anything that sparks something deep within and kindles a flame to know it to the bone.
I also love movies. I don't necessarily have to love the movie, as long as I can find one good line to take away from it, I'm happy. Remember “Joe vs. the Volcano” with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan? One of my favorite quotes came from that: “That's life. You just jump in and see what happens.” (I might have paraphrased a bit.) Or Mickey Rourke in “Barfly” – “Why does everybody always want you to be somebody?”
As for what puts a roof over my head – I'm currently an in-home care provider. I have been and/or am still a business owner, a typesetter, a graphic artist, a photographer, a painter, an illustrator, an author, an ordained minister, a hospice chaplain, a grief counselor, a middle manager, a piano teacher, an ACIM facilitator, a clerk, a receptionist, a field worker, a newspaper delivery person, and a few others. (I may have commitment issues.)
The things I'm passionate about are honesty and authenticity. I am most definitely a seeker of truth. When it comes to personal habits or qualities, integrity tops my list. And a good sense of humor comes right after that. A minute or two of heartfelt laughter can alter the most hardened attitude. Its saved me from myself on more occasions than I care to count.
A piece from my favorite mystic and poet – Rumi:
Define and narrow me, you starve yourself of yourself
Nail me down in a box of cold words,
That box is your coffin.
I do not know who I am.
I am in astounded, lucid confusion.
I am not a Christian, not a Jew, not a Zoroastrian,
I am not even a Muslim …
I am the life of life.
I am that cat, this stone, no one …
I see and know all times and worlds
As one, one, always one.
What do I have
To do to get you to admit who is speaking?
Admit it and change everything!
This is your own voice echoing off the walls of God.
